Privacy policy

Updated October 29, 2026

CliffDweller.net helps you discover Oak Cliff events and keep a personal list of events you’re interested in.

Sign-in information

Clerk manages account creation, email verification, and sign-in. When you choose Google, Google shares your account identifier, email address, name, and profile picture with Clerk for authentication. CliffDweller.net requests basic identity information; it does not request access to your Gmail, Google Calendar, contacts, or files.

Google sign-in requests only the openid, email, and basic profile scopes. We use this information to authenticate you, display your account in the sign-in controls, associate your private saved events and submissions with your account, and send requested submission updates to your verified email address. Google sign-in is optional: you can browse the public calendar without an account or use an email verification code instead.

Clerk processes your Google identifier and profile information as our authentication provider. The application uses a Clerk account identifier rather than your Google password to identify your saved list. When you submit a suggestion, the application also stores your verified account email so we can associate your submission and deliver its review response. We do not request or store your Google password, sell Google account information, or use it to target advertising.

Assistants you connect

If you connect an assistant through MCP, Clerk handles sign-in and your authorization. The connected assistant can search public events, read and change your saved-event list, read your own suggestions and their responses, and submit text suggestions at your request. Authorizing email access permits submission using your verified account email. The assistant receives the information returned by those tools under its provider's privacy practices. This connection does not grant administration, payment, scheduling or publication access. We keep small request receipts to prevent duplicate suggestions on retries; account deletion removes those receipts. Manage the connection in your assistant's settings.

Optional support payments

When you start monthly support while signed in, we link your CliffDweller account identifier to a Stripe customer record and keep private billing identifiers, checkout requests, and a small subscription-status record so you can manage support from your account. We check Stripe for current billing status. We do not link past payments to an account merely because the email addresses match. Deleting your CliffDweller account removes these local billing records; Stripe may retain financial records under its own policies, and deleting your account does not cancel future Stripe renewals.

If you choose to support CliffDweller, Stripe hosts checkout and processes your payment and contact information. CliffDweller can view payment, supporter contact, and subscription records in Stripe to manage support, answer payment questions, and handle cancellation requests. Card numbers are not collected or stored by this website. Monthly support renews until canceled. Payment details are not added to public calendar records or sent to Google Analytics. See Stripe's privacy policy.

Checkout also offers an optional mailing-address field for a mailed thank-you and occasional swag, such as a CliffDweller sticker. If you provide it, the address is stored with your Stripe checkout record and accessible to the site administrator for that purpose. It is not added to public listings or used for advertising. An address is not required to contribute. Contact jeremy@cliffdweller.net to ask us to stop using or remove a mailing address.

Your saved events

CliffDweller.net stores your saved event identifiers with your Clerk user identifier so your list is available when you sign in again. Public event listings show the total number of active saves across accounts. Removing a save or deleting an account removes its contribution to that total. Your personal list is private unless you explicitly create a shared list. You can remove saved events from your personal list at any time.

Shared saved-event lists

When you choose Share saved events list and create a link, we store the selected event identifiers, fixed date range, list title, creation time, and your account identifier so you can manage sharing. The list includes the saved events matching the filters you were viewing. Anyone with the link can view the title, dates, and selected public event listings without an account and can forward the link. Your account identifier, email, and profile are not included on the shared page. The title you enter is visible to link recipients, so include only information you want to share.

The shared dates and event selection stay fixed. Later saves and removals do not change an existing shared list, but current event details, cancellations, reschedules, and public availability can change what appears. Recipients can add events to their calendars or sign in to save events to their own accounts; this does not change your list or register anyone for an event.

Shared lists are not listed in public directories, and their pages instruct search engines not to index them. A link is access to the list, not a restricted invitation. You can use the × (Stop sharing) under Your shared lists in Saved Events to disable a link. Account deletion also disables and removes your shared lists. This cannot remove copies, screenshots, messages, or calendar entries already kept by recipients. Shared links expire after the last day of their selected date range. Expired records are automatically deleted when sharing is next accessed. You can also remove them earlier by stopping sharing or deleting your account; routine backups may retain earlier copies under our recovery practices.

Community suggestions and flyers

When you submit a suggestion, we store its request type, details, optional source link and flyer photo with your account identifier and verified account email. You and the site admin can view the submission, its disposition, and the admin’s response. Resend processes email alerts to the site admin and emails your verified account address when the admin or the authorized automated review changes the disposition or response. Update emails include the suggestion title, saved status, public admin response and a link to your suggestion. Signing in to the suggestions page reconnects older submissions to your current verified account email. Flyers remain privately stored and are viewed through the authenticated review page. An authorized ChatGPT cloud task may investigate suggestions, record review outcomes, and apply verified calendar corrections after the normal evidence checks. Private review evidence remains restricted to the site admin. Submissions are not automatically published. To request removal of a submission or flyer, contact jeremy@cliffdweller.net.

Service providers and technical data

If you choose Allow analytics, Google Analytics uses optional cookies to measure visits and engagement on public calendar and information pages, including scrolling, outbound links, downloads, supported embedded video interactions, and public event-calendar search terms and result counts. Google processes browser/device information and network information such as your IP address to provide analytics. We do not send your account identifier, email, saved-event list, suggestion text, or private admin activity as analytics events. Basic filters omit likely contact details and long pasted text from search analytics; please do not enter private information into the public event search.

Analytics is off until you allow it. You can decline or withdraw permission using Analytics preferences at the bottom of public pages. We store your choice in this browser; withdrawing permission stops collection and removes this site's Google Analytics cookies, but does not erase data already received by Google. Advertising storage and personalization remain disabled in this analytics integration. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Clerk processes authentication information, and OpenAI Sites and its hosting infrastructure process website requests and store the application’s data. These providers may process IP addresses, browser information, session cookies, and service logs to deliver and protect the service. The hosting service may also require sign-in depending on the site’s access settings.

Who receives information and why

  • Google and Clerk process the identity information needed for the sign-in method you choose. Essential authentication cookies keep your session working.
  • OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare hosting, database, and private file storage process requests and store saved-event and suggestion records so the service can operate. Access controls restrict personal lists, flyers, and review records.
  • Resend receives the recipient address and notification content needed to deliver suggestion alerts and review responses. These are service messages, not a subscription to marketing email.
  • Authorized ChatGPT-assisted review can process submitted details and associated account information to investigate additions, changes, and removals. The site administrator can review this information. Event facts selected for the public calendar are published separately; account emails, personal lists, and private flyers are not included in public listings.
  • Google Analytics receives the public-page usage information described above only after you opt in. Your Google sign-in choice and your analytics choice are separate.

We may disclose information when required to respond to a lawful request or to investigate abuse and protect the service. External organizer, ticketing, map, and other linked websites apply their own privacy practices. Providers may process information outside your country under their own service and privacy terms. See Resend’s privacy policy and Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Boundary street map

The boundary map loads street-map tiles directly from OpenStreetMap. Its servers receive your IP address, browser information, the site referrer and the map tiles requested as you pan or zoom. Clicking the map checks that point against the boundary in your browser; we do not send your selected coordinates to a geocoding service or store them as a suggestion.

Storage, retention, and your choices

Saved-event records remain associated with your account until you remove them or an account-data deletion request is processed. Shared saved-event records are retained as described above. Suggestions, disposition history, and related technical records are retained to operate the review process, address corrections, and investigate abuse. Contact us to request access, correction, or removal of your account-associated information. Removing a saved event does not cancel an event registration made on another website.

Deleting your account through Account settings triggers cleanup after Clerk delivers a verified deletion notification. We remove your active saved-event list and human-check record, clear the email address and account association from your suggestions, remove their private flyer uploads, and stop future suggestion-response emails. Suggestion content and review history remain for calendar corrections and review continuity; contact us if that content also includes personal information you want removed. A minimal account-identifier record remains to block stale sessions and make cleanup retries safe. Delivery or storage outages can delay completion; failed cleanup is retried. Messages already accepted by the email provider or delivered to an inbox cannot be recalled by deleting your account.

Private recovery copies include application records and uploads. These backups currently have no automatic deletion date. Removing data from active records does not immediately remove older recovery copies; those copies remain restricted and are not used as active public or member records. We review retention when handling deletion requests and recovery maintenance. Authentication, email, and analytics providers maintain their own logs and retention settings.

The site uses HTTPS and account-based access restrictions. No system can guarantee absolute security. You can withdraw optional analytics permission in the footer, remove saved events, manage your Clerk account through the account menu, or revoke Google access at Google Account connections. Revoking Google access stops that connection; contact us separately to request deletion of information already stored by CliffDweller.net.

Event-detail links take you to other websites, whose privacy practices apply there. See Clerk’s privacy policy, OpenAI’s privacy policy, and Google’s privacy policy.

Optional newsletter

If you opt in, we use your verified account email to send weekly Oak Cliff event picks and occasional site news through Resend. We record your choice, its date, and the consent wording. Creating an account, saving events, or submitting a suggestion does not subscribe you. Manage your preference in Account settings or use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter without signing in. Resend applies email-link unsubscribes immediately; Account settings checks Resend when displaying your preference. Service messages, including suggestion responses, are separate.

Changing your account email requires a new newsletter opt-in. Account deletion stops future newsletters once provider cleanup completes; failed cleanup is retried. Consent records are removed from active site storage during account deletion; restricted recovery copies and provider delivery records follow their existing retention policies. Newsletters include our mailing address: 1222 N Bishop Ave Ste 200-759, Dallas, TX 75208.

Account and deletion requests

To request deletion of your account information, associated saved list, submission, or flyer, or ask a privacy question, contact jeremy@cliffdweller.net. We may need to verify that a request comes from the account holder before disclosing or changing private records. Material changes to this notice will be reflected in the updated date on this page.
